The Tau Project: Day of Reckoning List

So, having got home from work I've put together a list that I hope may at least put a fight against Blackmanes Dark Eldar, I know he's running Hesperex and webway portals, so I'm gong to have my hand full if they get near. However, I hope to keep them at range, and IF they get near, I have a couple of failsafe options...

The Tau Project: 26 Days To Go

Hey all,

This is the first update for today (before I go to work), finished a Devilfish yesterday and get started on the Fire Warriors that go with it. Sticking with the theme that I settled on, however,

I'm going to continue that on with the troops, rather than inverting it like I originally thought. Will post some better pics later today, but this is what I've got for now.

Advance Order Models

Hi all.

Just a quick post. I've just been on the GW website and found there are a few items now up for advance order.

The Tau Project: 5 Weeks To Go

Hey all, time for a bit of a change. I've been tinkering around with my Iron Lords for a while and put my Tau on a back burner, however with the arrival of Blackmane's Dark Eldar and the desire to put them in their place I've picked up my Tau again with the idea of having them battle ready for Boxing Day, this is a bit of a tradition between Blackmane and myself that we've done for the last few years, so I thought if he was bringing something new, so would I.

New Day, No Dawn: Dark Eldar Part 1

Hi all.

Today I bring some pictures of the first Dark Eldar model I've painted. I was up till 1 in the morning painting him and then finished him 7 or so hours later after I had got some sleep. My kabal is called the Kabal of the Blazing Sun. I've come up with some background for them and will post some brief bits of background once I've got it all together. I've gone with an orangey/red colour for them and I will endevour to put up a painting post some time soon. So without any more delay my first Dark Eldar model.

Dark Eldar! A Brief Look

Hi all.

Just a quick post today. On Friday I got the new codex, kaballite warriors and Lelith Hesperax that I advanced ordered. This doesn't mean I'm starting a new army straight away. I'm basically using the warrior models as a test to see whether I like painting Dark Eldar. If I don't then that'll be the end of them and they'll just be display models. If I do like them (highly likely), then I will get a few more things and try those out to see how I like them. I'm thinking at least wyches and a raider at this point, possibly some reavers. If those go well then it'll be a full army over time.

From Tech Lovers to Werewolf Hunters: The Iron Lords of the Grendl Stars

Hey all,
been a long time since I have posted anything, I have spent many weeks wandering the warp trying to find direction for my Iron Lords and I think I have found it. I was checking out BoLS (like I do everyday) and read an article on '40K Law' about lesser races in the Universe, and to my surprise the first article was about the Barghesi, (http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2010/10/40k-lore-lesser-xenos-barghasi.html) the race in the Grendl stars that the Iron Lords have been confining to that system as well as stopping the Tyranids from harvesting their genes. For some reason, I have no idea why, I never looked up Barghesi (or any of its other spellings) to find out a bit more about it. The Barghesi origins point to a creature knows as the Bhargest, a black goblin dog type creature that inhabits England and many other parts of the world.

BarghestBargtjestBo-guest,BargheistBargeist , BarguistBargest or Barguest is the name often given in the north of England, especially in Yorkshire, to a legendary monstrous black dog with huge teeth and claws, though in other cases the name can refer to a ghost or Household elf, especially in Northumberland and Durham (see Cauld Lad of Hylton). One is said to frequent a remote gorge named Troller's Gill. There is also a story of a Barghest entering the city of York occasionally, where, according to legend, it preys on lone travellers in the city's narrow SnickelwaysWhitby is also associated with the spectre.[1] A famous Barghest was said to live near Darlington who was said to take the form of a headless man (who would vanish in flames), a headless lady, a white cat, a dog, rabbit and black dog. Another was said to live in an "uncannie-looking" dale between Darlington and Houghton, near Throstlenest.[2]It is also thought to be the black dog that Dracula is said to have transformed into.

After reading the article, the breakdown and the comments, there was one thought that stuck in my mind,

A CHAPTER OF WEREWOLF HUNTERS!

The Iron Lords have been containing these guys for years, so it is only natural that they they have adapted to face these hyper violent species and taken trophies. Now I know these guys aren't Space Wolves and I DO NOT intend to go and follow the Space Wolves Codex, that's Blackmane s army, these guys are strictly codex.'
Thus gave me dilemma, how to make them wolf hunters without going space wolfy. So i did what I usually do and went for the total opposite, Dark Angles. I envision the Iron Lords being skilled in close combat, as the Barghesi are a hyper violent species and wolf like so I expect they would be too, and obviously the Iron Lords Assault Squads who go hand to hand with this Xenos scum would have emphasis and veneration for their Assault Squads, again I repeat these guys are codex, there will be NO BLOOD ANGELS CODEX, despite the fact they are very assault orientated.

I decided that the Assault Squads would be a good place to start with Iron Lords and work back to the troops and other options. Last night I came up with these guys ==>
They are no way finished obviously, but they represent my first Iron lords Assault Squad, built from the Dark Angels Chapter Upgrade kit and the Black Templars Upgrade kit.
A squad of 5, armed with bolt pistol and chainsword, the sergeant with bolt pistol and thunder hammer. I'm trying to think of a name for this type of squad but I'm having difficulty at the minuet. They are rigorously trained and carry silver edged knives and chainsword teeth, the Barghesi DNA reacts violently with silver causing localised molecular disintegration.
A clean stab in the heart causes instant death with a silver blade, compared to any other weapons which tends to only annoy them more, mainly because their bodies heal almost instantly.

Having vaguely fleshed out their assault squads, I can now begin to work more on their overall aim and design. But I like this new direction, I love horror films and this give me the option to combine the two! Any comments and thought are welcome!
