Blackmane Post 4

Ok. I've missed another week so it won't be a weekly post anymore for the time been. It will just be as and when I can add a post about what kind of thinsg i've been up too.

So lets get down to what i've been up too since my last post.

Iron Lords Chapter Master

Well then, it's been rather a long time coming this, but around work and ordering the bits ive found time to build me a chapter master/master of the forge! :D

Weekly Blackmane Post - 3

So I may have missed a week or two, thats all down to a computer problem.

Anyway on with an update.

So since my last post I have managed to finish my Lukas the Trickster model. I have to admit I may have out done myself again and I didn't think I could do better than I did on Njal.

Weekly Blackmane Post - 2

Hey all.

So what have I been up to this week.

Well firstly i've been working on the drop pod from my Space Wolf Battlefore box. So far it is looking to bad as you can see from the pictures below.

Space Wolf Battlefore

Hey all

Today i got my Spac Wolf Batlleforce. I ordered it on the day it came out and have been waiting for it to arrive and today I got my paws on it.

For those who maybe aren't aware the battleforce contaisn the following:

20 Space Wolves (Assembled as either Blood Claws/Grey Hunters/Wolf Guard)
5 Scouts
1 Drop Pod

Weekly Blackmane Post - 1

Ok so I have deicided to try and do a weekly update on all the things i'm working on as well as other updates about more specific things.

Firstly a quick update on the Space Wolves. I finished painting my Njal model and i think its possibly one of the best if not the best model i've painted. Zebulon would possibly agree. I've also been busy painting Lukas a little bit at a time. I have also been doing the odd little bit here and there on the rest of the army although I'm not planning on doing much until i get my battleforce so i can add some new things and make al my squads legal again without having to remove a memeber of the squad.

Update on my Space Wolves

So I've been working on my Space Wolves for the las few weeks. They're looking good so far. The Only 'major' thing that has to be done is to swap out the extra power weapons/fists in my squads as they can now only have one of them.

Long Time No umm...Blog

Well it's certainly been a while since I last posted a blog, mainly due to the fact that I now have a job! HOORAY! This means 2 things, I now only really have 2 full days a week where I can actually get some modelling done, but having a job also mean I can buy new things! First on my hit list is a nice Grey Knight Terminator Captain/ Sergeant that I spotted in my local GW, that as far as I know you can't buy singularly from the online store. Just need to get paid lol. Well anyway, this is what you could call the first of Zebulon's Monthly Projects (though hopefully I want to do something at least twice a week lol) and I will be updating it soon with some more pics and ideas I've been tinkering around with :)

On a side note, there's a lot of new scenery been built by Blackmane, which is looking awesome to say the least and hopefully he'll put some pics up too.

Thoughts on the new Space Wolf Codex and stuff

So I got the new codex on saturday and have read it from cover to cover at least twice. All I can say is that I think the codex is really good. The fluff in the codex is well written and there is some humour in there as well which really helps give the Space Wolves that rebelious feel to them. The saga's that can be given to the characters also help to make them feel more like a none codex chapter and add a real element of fun to the codex with the oaths that are attached to each saga. It helps to make you play to the spirit of the wolves by making you want to keep the oath and not break it and bring shame upon your character. I think these could be worked in to a cmapeign somehow or a similar idea could be used, i'll have to think a bit more about that one.

Some Space Wolf Pictures At Last!

Today I have some pictures of my Space Wolves to post. There are only a few pictures as most of my models aren't finished yet, so here are some that are.

So first up is my Land Raider. As with all my tanks the recessed part of the hull is painted yellow with Logan Grimnar's Great Company Symbol. All the icons on my Space Wolves have been hand painted.

Ruins....at last

Finally here are some pictures of the ruins that I made using the template from the 4th edition rulebook. The only real difference is the first of the ruins which is bigger than the others. I made it using the same template but after drawing round it i then extended one side of it and 'repaired' the part of the wall that would have been broken.

Space Wolves are almost here!!

The new Codex:Space Wolves has gone on advanced order to day aswell as all the cool new plastic and metal space wolf goodness :) . I'll be oredering my stuff soon I think.

On a liitle side note i'd like to say that pictures of my Space Wolves and the ruin's i've been working on should be up sometime over the next week. I know i've been saying this for a while but i promise this time.

My Armies: Post 1 of um....many

Well, in my first post I did say that I would be posting pictures of my Ultramarines and Iron Lords forces, so here's the first one. These three are the models I've completed most recently and they're one of my better attempts at painting, which I know I'm not brilliant at lol. The only difficulty I really had was the faces, mainly due to a lack of paint colours, but anyway I made do with what I've got and they ended up like this (Click on picture to enlarge)

Firstly the Master of the Recruits:

A very interesting model to paint, and I'm sure his face would have come ut better if I had more paints, but it kind of looks like he's got an eye missing ala Cassius, which I'm beginning to like, however I have now realised that I can't paint swords properly and also apologise for the dark pictures in all of these, am still working out how to do good pictures.

Master of the Armoury

This is possibly my favourite model in the Master of the Chapter box, simply because I have a thing about Mk.3 Iron Armour, again the face would have come out better if I had more paints, but overall I liked how he turned out

Space Wolves repaint nearing completion!

With the release of the new Codex:Space Wolves only a couple of weeks away, I've been repainting my Space Wolves to try and make them look better than they did. So far the repainting has been going well with 3 of my squads having been redone in just a few days. There's just one more squad of grey hunters left to do aswell as my pack of long fangs, and a few bikes. Once these are done it will be time to base them again with snow, though hopefully it will look better second time around. I'll post some pictures once they are all done.

On a side note the building i was working on have been finished, just need to get some pictures and those will be up soon aswell.

Live Action Space Wolves!

Well, since the return of the 'Wolves is just around the corner, I thought i'd post this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0XNf0G5ugs&feature=related

Its a bit cheesy and Red Dwarf esque, but i think this is ace! Enjoy

Space Wolves First Look

Even though the new Space Wolf codex isn't out yet some pictures of the new characters have surfaced on the internet. GW also posted a picture of the Space Wolf Pack frame on their website. All i can say is my excitement is growing. Should you wish to have a look for yourself head to www.belloflostsouls.net for the model pictures and www.games-workshop.com/gws/home.jsp for a picture of the sprue.

Iron Lords Chapter Master: Change Of Plan

Well, after posting quite a long blog on how I was going to make my Iron Lords chapter master, into a pre-heresy suit of termy armour etc etc.. I've had a change of heart.

Instead im going to use a Grey Knight in termy armour as a basis for the conversion, removal of the head, insignia etc etc and add cog motifs a cape, perhaps with fur, and then if i deem it will look good give him a servo-harness. keep the storm bolter but lose the force halberd in exchange for the mechanicus force weapon/axe (on the direct sales only techamrine) or a big ass thunder hammer, counts as a Master of the Forge. Hmm tempting....

My Version of Knight Commander Pask

This is a picture of my version of knight commander pask. I decided to give him a little cape and a fur collar to make him stand out. I also gave him a laspistol to make it look like he is shooting at something on the ground. Also attached to the cupola is a banner with the Tarnhelm 3rd's regimental logo on it. The logo is basically the Roman numeral for 3 but instead of 3 striaght lines it has 3 thunderbolts. I was really quite impressed with how i painted the skin on this model. Painting skin has always been something i've found hard to do well and the way i did the skin for this model worked well i feel. It will definately be the way i do skin from now on until i find a better way of doing it.

As always comments are welcome

Iron Lords Chapter Master

Well in the true tradition of the Space Marines, I have started construction of a Chapter Master namely the "Iron Lord" Hoban Lakor. I've been tinkering around with him for a while, terminator armour, close combat weapon and a combi melta. I then added some green stuff robes, but was not overall happy wth how he looked, it all seemed a bit too...uninspiring for a Chapter Master. So I stripped the green stuff off him an started again. I drilled out his head (using the Black Reach sergeant as a basis) and replaced it. Then I had a choice, either a reconstructed thunder hammer (don't ask) and power fist or lighning claws, however having no shoulder pads meant id have to find away to cover them up. Then the idea hit me, a Pre-Heresy suit or termy armour, I know im not the best with green stuff, but I like to think getting there.

The Tarnhelm 3rd at present

So here we have a picture of pretty much the entire Tarnhelm minus a few extra officers.
Here's a rundown of the army so far:

Site Change

Well, its only been up 3 days and ive already decided to change the layout, looks a bit better and hopefully soon we should have some links in the link bar above to a gallery of our work and other things that we've done and/or found useful along the way.

The Tarnhelm 3rd: Baneblade

Hi all

Here's the first picture of many that will be posted as time goes by. This is the Tranhelm 3rd's baneblade 'Hammer'.

Turn Signals On A Land Raider

As you may have noticed, on the right of the page is a nice new big and shiny link to the Turn Signals On A Land Raider comic, mine and Blackmanes favourite 40k comic. Its definately worth a read and I hope they dont mind us posting a link to their webpage. The comic was discontinued at no.667 at the start of August 2009, however the full archive is available to read starting from no.1. Please go and have a look, its definatley worth a chuckle!

Imperial Armour Vol.1 & 2 Updates

Forgeworld have kindly updated many of the rules from Imperial Armour 1 & 2, to bring them in line with the 5th edition rule book, and not only that, they've put them in 2 handy PDF's for free! Having looked at the PDF's, which deals with Space Marines, Inquisition and Imperial Guard, Im thinking a Helios Landraider might be in order mwahahahahaha, and the best thing about this update? Not only have they updated the rules and stats for each unit, but they've also included the points costs, put this all together and it means that basically theyve released a mini codex of sorts, dealing with armoured vechicles...for free...adds a bit more variety doesnt it?

First Post From Blackmane

Well first things first, welcome to our little corner of the internet, enjoy ur stay. So i'm the one who has the Space Wolf army and my own, slowly growing, regiment of Imperial Guard, the Tarnhelm 3rd. Hopefully i will have some pictures up shortly of the Tarnhelm, the Space Wolves are currently undergoing a bit of a painting revamp before the release of the new codex, mainly due to poor painting when i first got them.

Hopefully you will enjoy the posts we put up here on Sign of the Aquila. Please feel free to comment on anything we post as they will be greatly appreciated by myself and
