Ultramarine Tartaros Terminators

Hi all,
this week my project whilst being away from work is to make a good progress on my Tartaros Terminators, I've washed them, cleaned them up, assembled them and built bases for them. These are a little different from my normal basing as I got them primarily to use with Space Hulk, my friend Pete bought a copy, but alas without any of the models. So here goes;

Zebulon's Birthday Screaming Bell

Hey all, as is tradition Blackmane has indulged me with a very fine birthday present! A full painted screaming bell and a full set of the new fx paints!

The whole miniature is spectacular! Then again that's nothing new for  Blackmane! I absolutely love the mini, though I'm particularly fond of the metal on this, hes used Typhus Corrosion and Ryza Rust to do some excellent work. He also did the plague monk that comes with it:

I love how he gave the monks cloak a thin coast of Typhus Corrosion, to give it a grimy muck look, this is something I'll be doing on my Skaven from now on. Theres just the bases on both of them to do. Oh and now I'll need more clanrats to push it!

Ive been very quiet during the last few months, real life seems to be getting in the way all too often, however, I've got a week off after just moving house and I've got few plans in mind. On a random note too, I found this as a steal on eBay;

Its a missile pod turret from Forgeworld, have no rules for it yet, but I though it looked pretty cool!
Anyway thats all for now, more soon!

Dark Eldar WIP: Lilith Hesperax

Hi all.

Today I bring a quick WIP post for the Lilith Hesperax model I've been working on. This is the first character that I've worked on for my Dark Eldar army and I really should have painted a character a lot sooner than I have.

Having said that lets get to the pictures.

Dark Eldar Reaver Jetbikes Completed

Hi all.

Today I bring my completed Reaver Jetbike squad. As with the Kabalite squad I posted previously these have been in the works for quite a long time. I'm happy they are now finished as the models themselves are pretty cool.

So on with the pictures.

Dark Eldar Kabalite Warrior Squad Complete

Hi all.

Today I bring some pictures of my completed Kabalite squad. I've been working on the squad for quite a while (probably on and off for a year) and so it's nice to have them finished finally.

So on with pictures.

Reaver Jetbikes WIP

Hi all.

Today I bring some WIP pictures of the squad of Reaver Jetbikes that I'm working on alongside the unit of Kabilite Warriors that I posted previously.

As with the Kabilite Warriors the photos aren't the best.

Dark Eldar Kabalite Warriors WIP

Hi all.

It's been a while since either myself or Zebulon have posted anything. I'm pretty sure we've both been pretty busy with other stuff. Since I finished university I have been slowly trying to get back in to painting as I haven't done much at all since christmas bar a small amount on some thunder wolves and repainting some lego hair.

Today however I've got some pictures of the Kabalite Warriors that I've had a chance to work on over the past couple of days now I have some free time and getting back in to the swing of painting. The pictures aren't great as the sunlight coming through the window was brighter on the camera than I thought it would be.

And now for something completely different.....

Hi all.

Today I bring a post that is a little different. A few days ago I was chatting to a couple of friends who asked me if I could do something for them. I should include a little bit of background here. They have recently been buying lego in order to complete sets that one of them already had from being a kid. This has led to them having a decent amount of lego. It also follows that they of course mess around making their own stuff. Now one of them is a fan of Frozen and she has been attempting to make the ice palace and related characters.
This is the point at which I come in. You see she had a piece of lego hair for one of the characters but it wasn't the correct colour. So naturally they asked if I could possibly repaint the piece the colour they wanted. I of course said yes and so this post comes in to existence.

Here are the 3 WIP pictures that I took as I was doing it. They show the start, middle and end of the paint job. The piece of hair next to the painted piece is the kind of colour I had to aim for. The piece to be painted started out brown.

Thunderwolves WIP

Hi all.

It's nice to have had a chance to get my brushes and paint back out after such a long time. I have decided to try and finish some of the things that I've had sat on my painting tray for quite a while now. With that in mind the first thing i have decide to work on are my first unit of Thunderwolf Cavalry. I actually have a second unit of them somewhere that I had wanted to do at the same time as these but I actually can't remember quite where they are haha.

So here are the WIP of them so far. I apologise for the pictures not been the best. My camera ran out of power so I had to take the pictures with my phone.

From Infinity Circuit: Modular Terrain WIP 2

Hey all,
Zebulon here again with another update. after building two test buildings yesterday (which you can look at here) I went a bought another 4 sets of drawer containers and as you can see I repeated the same process!

From Infinity Circuit: WIP Modular Terrain

Hey all, today whilst I was shopping around town, I had a brain wave! In a shop called Poundworld, (where every item is £1) I found these:

From Infinity Circuit: Army Issue Spray Paint - Nomads Starter Box WIP

Hey all,
today I've finally got round to cleaning up and at least undercoating my starter box. The mini's had a small amount of flash on them and it took about 15min to do the whole squad, assemble and glue.

To Infinity And Beyond!

Hi, hello, salut!, aloha, ola, guten tag!
Zebulon here (after a hiatus) bringing news of Infinity! For those of you who don't know, Infinity is a 28mm skirmish game designed by Corvus Belli. There is a rather good article here on BOLS that explains the game rather well, so I will let that do the talking if you want to follow the link.

Blackmane's Brief Return

Hi all.

It has been a long time since I last posted anything. In fact I think it's been a while since either myself or Zebulon posted anything. Well fear not we haven't been lost in the warp. For my part I have been extremely busy with university. I'm coming up to the end of my final year so there have been many assignments to do and an engineering project to write (that's our equivalent of a dissertation and is pretty much a dissertation in every sense). As such I haven't actually painted anything since I did Zebulon's Tau Barracuda for christmas as far as I can remember.

However that doesn't mean that I haven't been keeping up with the hobby. As I stated in my last post back in February I bought one of every dwarf kit. I then went on to buy a Knight Titan as I also said I would. Since then I've also picked up the Astra Millitarum codex (I'm still not sure I like that name), the new plastic commissar, Araloth, 60+ Moria Goblins, various LotR metal models both named and unnamed, Kingdom Death Satan and many other bits and pieces.

The next things I would like to get are 40k 7th edition, when it comes out of course, and the upcoming new Dystopian Wars rulebook. However these items may have to wait for a while and as much as I love 40k I'm leaning towards getting the dystopian wars book first once I do have the money to get them. I'm really looking forward to the updated dystoian wars rules as I'm hoping it help clean up a few rules and just make the rules a bit easier to understand. For example I'm still not entirely sure how the Fresnel class actually works so it would be nice to have better defined rules. As for 7th I think some of the rumoured changes sound quite promising though I would like fleet to go back to allowing an assault after running and 4+ feel no pain would be nice again (I'm thinking of my DE with both of these).

Well that's all I have time for right now. After next Friday I should find myself with plenty of time to paint so I'm hoping to start getting a lot done as I'm really eager to get back to it.

Well that's it for this post. As always thanks for taking the time to have a look and please feel free to leave any comments be they good, bad or somewhere in between.

A quick update from Blackmane

Hi all

It's been a while since I posted anything but I have been really busy at university. The first week back after christmas we were given 4 assignments so unfortunately the hobby has had to take a back seat for the time being.

Having said that it hasn't stopped me buying many new things over the past few weeks. The Dwarfs been the primary focus of my spending spree though thanks to the weekly release schedule it was stretched out over 4 weeks rather than all at once haha. I have to say I really like all the new kits. I think the gyrocopter is a vast improvement over the old one, the new models for hammers/ironbreakers and longbeards are all amazing. I have promised myself the I will assemble and paint all of these before buying anymore of them to make bigger units. And then we come on to the characters both named and not. I love the all. As someone who is studying engineering Grimm Burloksson has a certain appeal it has to be said.

And then on top of that GW announced the worst kept secret of the last few weeks the Imperial Knight. I will definitely be getting one of those on launch. I'm certain more will follow in time. I think I'm eventually planning on doing one Adpetus Mechanicus aligned knight, probably Taranis as I loved the Mechanicum HH book, one Imperial aligned knight and one Freeblade.

I've also bought a couple of models by Knight models, namely Iron Man and The Riddler. I noticed them in my local game store and couldn't resist. I'm really looking forward to having a go at painting them when I get the time.

Hopefully I will get some free time soon so I can do a little bit of painting and maybe get something more worthy of a post on the blog or at least a WIP.

Well that's it for this post. As always thanks for taking the time time to have a look and please feel free to leave any comments be they good, bad or somewhere in between.

Ultramarine Contemptor & Tau Barricuda

Hey all,
today I bring a quick update on a coupleof things, firstly is my Ultra Venerable Contemptor which I finished a couple of weeks ago but haven't posted. On with the pics...

Hobby: Low Defences On A Budget

 Hey all,
continuing my super cheap terrain defences theme, I built these low barricades. I imagined that these would be something that would have been built in an emergency by the PDF or the Imperial Guard, hence why they're wooden and not rockrete or plasteel or anything like that, quite fitting for the game we're having today as its a Tyranid invasion! Here's how I did them:

Hobby: Some Anti-Personnel Defences On A Budget

Hey all,
in this age of defences I've discovered a very cheap and easy way to make anti personnel fortifications, in prep for a game I'm having tomorrow, we have lots of buildings and thought it would be good to add a bit of other cover and the like.In total I spent £3 on materials, I bought a roll of 1.25mm strimmer wire, 50 lollipop sticks and 38 felt tip pens (cheaper than buying plastic tubing!). Here's what I did:
